The biggest question I had about my Botox treatment was “is Botox dangerous?”
After all, I had promised myself for years that I would never go near the stuff.
However, this is easier said than done when you are in your 20’s, not a care in the world (and no wrinkles to speak of!)
My Experience
As I crept into my mid 30’s and started to realize that these new wrinkles and frown lines were here to stay I finally caved and talked to my doctor about Botox.
Below are some answers to questions I wish I had known about earlier.
Is Botox Permanent?
No! Botox does not permanently get rid of wrinkles.
It is an investment that lasts about three or four months, so be prepared to schedule follow up appointments every few months.
Does Botox Hurt?
I am not a big needle person so I was very nervous about the pain to come.
However, it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought and your doctor can even apply a numbing agent to make it a more comfortable treatment session.
Is There Downtime?
While you should be able to return to your normal activities after your treatment, there are things you should avoid to prevent bruising.
For example, my doctor told me not to exercise for six hours after my treatment or to take any blood-thinning medications.
Is Botox Dangerous?
The FDA has cleared Botox as completely safe and very effective to remove unwanted wrinkles on the face.
